Obituary for Roy Edward Roberts

Roy Edward  Roberts
Roy Edward Roberts, a resident of Clackamas County, Oregon died on October 26, 2017 in Milwaukie. He was 68 years of age.

Roy was born on May 30, 1949 in Portland, Oregon and was the son of Harry and LaRue (Summers) Roberts. He attended Gilbert Elementary and later David Douglas High School. In 1967 he enlisted in the United States Army serving his country in Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge as a Specialist in 1970. at the rank of Specialist.

On August 27, 1971, he married Carole Mitchell in Vancouver, Washington and they later made their home in Milwaukie, Oregon. Roy worked for Southern Pacific Railroad and also at the Milwaukie VFW Post 4248 as the Cook, Bartender and also served as their Post Commander.

Roy enjoyed fishing, camping, playing pool, dominos, social gatherings and short road trips. He loved his wife, family and his grandkids.

Roy is survived by his wife Carole Roberts, children, Tammy Holmes, Kathy Roberts, Kelly Roberts, Billy Thompson and Renee Thompson along with 10 brothers and sisters, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Thompson and his brothers, Jerry, Fred and John Roberts.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at Peake Funeral Chapel. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 12:00 pm, also at Peake Funeral Chapel followed by a committal with military honors at Willamette National Cemetery. A reception will be hosted at the VFW Post 4248 immediately following the committal service.
